Charoite

HISTORICAL INFORMATION

Charoite only became known in the world, just recently, and it of course was named for the location where it was discovered.

Discovered in Russia in 1978 in the Murun mountains in Yakutia, to date, this the only known location for this rare mineral. The name Charoite is derived from the Chary River which is near where it was found.

Charoite has quite an unusual look, with its chatoyancy and strange looking spirally  strands of fibrous material that often it is mistaken for a synthetic gemstone.

Considering charoite's recent discovery there obviously isn't much history or lore surrounding it. But there is a mystery. Why is this particular mineral found in this one location Scientists speculate that Charoite was formed under extremely rare and unusual circumstances that are almost impossible to duplicate anywhere else.

The Mongols use Charoite to make decorative objects, and on special feast days they would boil the stone in tea.  This tea is then consumed by all members of the family in order to strengthen family ties and protect all it's members from evil.

METAPHYSICAL PROPERTIES

Charoite is often called a 'stone of transformation' as well as a stone of power.  In particular it transforms negative emotions such as anger and fear into positive feelings.  As a part of the transformation process it allows release of those negative emotions, so one can change and move forward.

Charoite is also known as a stone of inspiration, bringing enhanced creativity, spiritual grown and showing new possibilities in even the oldest situations. Charoite is a stone that allows one to see clearly which brings with it enhanced self-esteem and helps release one from many victimizations.

Charoite is known to enhance or bring courage, inner strength or appropriate assertiveness.  In the psychic realm it is used for entity release and rescue work, as well as clairvoyance and prophesy.

Considering charoite's origins, it is somehow appropriate that a stone that does so much to alleviate fear comes from such a stark and forbidding place. Siberia (the part of Russia that the stone is found in) is traditionally a place of exile and when we're afraid of something we generally separate ourselves from a full appreciation of what life has to offer. Odd isn't it?

Charoite is used in meditation to free yourself of fear and to realize that we are all spiritual beings. Purple is the sixth chakra color and the sixth chakra is the place where many of our limiting mental programs, including fears, are stored.

The color purple, among other things, helps bring one closer to spirit by showing us that everything, even the thoughts we hold as true, can be dissolved and replaced with more empowering energies.

Charoite also helps one realize unconditional love and helps to cleanse the auric body. It will help accelerate spiritual growth, enhance self esteem and the ability to love.

HEALING PROPERTIES

Charoite has been found to be extremely useful for the cleansing and purification of one's energy body, as well as for the transmutation of negative energies within oneself. It is most useful for ailments of the eyes, heart, head and liver.

Charoite is recommended for alcohol and food detoxification.

Charoite is said to regulate blood pressure, as well as regenerate the body in times of fatigue. Because this stone is closely related to the heart, it has historically been used to treat insomnia in adults and children.

Put Charoite under your pillow, especially if you are prone to disturbed sleep or fears which come up in dreams. In combination with amethyst, it will help to release these fears.

This stone treats other heart and nervous system disorders such as bi-polar and autism.
